Dirty Lawn Mower

Our lawn mower gets used every week in the summer months to mow our lawn.  Something we’ve been neglecting to do is clean it after each session.  We turned it sideways and the under carriage was caked in hard dry dirt.  I’m sure the person using it was carrying an extra load that made the job harder and heavier.

Hebrews 12:14-15 from The Message… Work at getting along with each other and with God…keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent…

People upset us, we have a choice, do we hold onto it, let it grow, causing us to become heavy laden and bitter and contaminating others?  Or do we clean up afterwards, chat it through, all gone.

Thank You

Thank You Lord for asking me to lift my head and raise my eyes to gaze upon you.  I can completely trust in you Lord God.  Thank you for the equipping, the encouragement.  Thank You Lord that I’m not doing any of this in my own strength, it’s all about you, it’s all for your Kingdom, it’s all for your people, your church.  I Love You Lord Greater Than Anything.

Preparing A Field

1.  Typically it needs ploughing (till, dig-up, mix, overturn the soil).

2.  Harrowing to break the soil clods into smaller mass and incorporate plant residue.

3.  Levelling the field.

Our lives need to be:

1.   Ploughed, mixed up, have we settled?  Let’s change things up.

2.  All the issues need to be broken down and we encourage one another.

3.  Then we make it all nice and flat and we ready to plant and prepare for a harvest.

And the same goes for our church, our team.

Storeroom

Somebody says something or does something that upsets us, we stew, we process and re-process.  We try avoiding them initially by then life carries on, the issue gets placed in the storeroom.  Never dealt with, never resolved but avoided and a division occurs whether we consciously aware of it or not.  This storeroom is taking up space, causing a blockage, God can’t work with us.  There is stale air there, no life.

Let’s open the doors and windows, go to the people that have hurt us and talk to them.  It’s not going to be easy; it’s going to be hard and it will be a process, forgiving and forgetting again and again but it’s going to be so worth it.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!  2 Corinthians 3:17

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”  Matthew 6:14

Don’t wait, don’t put it off.

Cleaning out the storeroom will make space for the Holy Spirit to work and live and breathe.

City Life

We used to live in the city and the traffic didn’t trouble me too much.  For the last 11 years we’ve been living in a small village, there are no traffic lights, no major traffic jams and the people are relatively polite.

Recently I had to take a trip to the city, if I could put emojis here I would.

I was driving so slowly, so unsure and unfamiliar with their ways.  It felt like the people were speeding but it’s most probably the norm for them.  I’m not used to this, I’m out of practise.

This experience got me thinking of the Holy Spirit.

The churches we attended; people prayed aloud in tongues.  We prayed for people all the time, for demons to leave, for the sick to be healed.  We visited hospitals, we did home visits, we were friends, visiting in each other’s homes.  We worshipped together.  Cleaned people’s windows for free just to have the privilege to pray with them.

Holy Spirit please bring us back to you, I feel like I’ve become out of practise with your ways.  Train us up and send us out to do your will O Lord God.

Please read Colossians 1 in The Message.

The Key

The door is looming large

Overwhelming, intimidating.

A golden key is placed in my hand,

it reflects the sunlight

and appears to be glowing.

The key fits perfectly in the lock

but I can’t just put it in

and think that’s enough.

The door still won’t open.

I have to turn the key to unlock the door

and then the door can be opened.

We have all been given the Holy Spirit.

I have to make the time and be still.

Sit at Jesus’ feet.

Spend time in His word, in His presence.

Allow God to speak to us through the Holy Spirit,

Still small voice.

New life awaits us.

Transformed minds.

Renewed strength.

Godly wisdom.

Peace

Joy

Thank You Lord

For your presence,

You walk with us every day.

Riches

Diamonds are found 150km below the surface. Temperatures are above 1000 degrees Celsius and there is tremendous pressure at these depths.

To get gold you’ve got to dig down deep and it’s usually embedded in quartz veins. Finding gold is not easy and it can only be found where it naturally exists.

To get treasure, it takes time, it takes effort and endurance but it’s so worth it. Spend time in God’s word, in his presence in prayer and share the treasures you find there.

Talk to God

We more concerned, “what’s for lunch?” than what God wants. “What’s tonight’s movie?”, than are we doing God’s will. We roll out of bed on Sunday and log into church just on time. Even if we going to the building, are we prayed up? Fired up? Holy Spirit full and overflowing?

I’m feeling frustrated. We are so concerned with our plans for the future, our studies, our careers, our homes, our finances… Did you ever stop to ask God what he wanted you to do? What gifts, talents he gave you to use for His Glory? To live the life he wanted you to live.

It’s not too late to stop, stand still and ask God.

Can any of us truly say, “I am doing my Father’s will?” (I’m talking to myself too) I don’t believe we are doing church the way God intended. We playing church, have been doing it for years, following our fathers and our grandfathers. Something got lost along the way, man got self reliant. Lord teach us your ways. Show us your will. Teach us how to hear the Holy Spirit again. Teach us how to put down our nets and follow you and only you. Lord we want to be used by you, we want to be a bright light for you.

Please continue talking to God…

Ephesians 1, read it in The Message if you can.

More

Oh Lord, there is so much more that you want from us. To be open. To be honest. To Weep. To Worship. To Pray. Time. It all takes time. Time in God’s word is important.

I can’t do this on my own. I need you Lord. Help me please.

There is so much wisdom in the bible, so many truths, blessings, encouragements, reminders, Life can be found there. Grace & Love. Hope. Joy. Peace. Patience, which is something we all needing right now.

Read. Feast. Devour & Enjoy God’s Word. May there be healing in His presence, for our hearts, our minds, our bodies & our souls.

But most important Love. Love for God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. Love for the word of God. Love for each other. Love for his plans and purposes for our lives.

Horses

We all seem to be flogging our own horses, not to mention that horse could be ourselves. Forgetting we a body.

Picture a team of horses pulling a carriage, the strength, the power, the unity. They all work together for a common goal. No matter how many people get into that carriage, the weight, the team can get them to their destination.

Lord, please help us to see the team we have around us, that we may work together for you. To give you all the Glory & Praise, to further Your Kingdom.

8 July 2020

I encourage you to please read 1 Corinthians 12 which talks about Spiritual Gifts and your body has many parts…
